Historical & Architectural Tourism in Uzbekistan

Day 1:

Arrival in Tashkent airport. Transfer to hotel. Accommodation in hotel. Dinner. Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 2:

Breakfast in hotel. Transfer to Tashkent airport for morning flight to Urgench. Arrival in Urgench. Transfer to Khiva (35 km). Accommodation in hotel. Lunch.

 City tour around the " Ichan-Qala" (12-19th cc.): "Kunya Ark" khan's castle - the inner citadel of Ichan-Qala (16-17th cc.), " Kalta Minor Tower" ("Short minaret") that would have become the biggest and tallest minaret in Central Asia (19th c.), " Mukhammad Amin-Khan" - the biggest medieval medressa in Khiva (1845-1855 yy.), " Djuma Mosque with 212 wooden columns and a minaret 32,5 m height (10th c.), " Tash-Khauli" ("Stone courtyard") palace looking like a fortress with a high battlements, towers and fortified gates (19th c.), "Ak-Mosque" ("White Mosque") - a small quarter mosque by the gates of Palvan-Darvaza (1838-1842), necropolis of Pakhlavan Makhmud - the cultic center of Ichan-Qala(1810-1913 yy.),  residence of islam Khodja (1910 y.) - the vizier of the last khan. Ensemble consists of the smallest medressa in Khiva and a minaret whose top platform has a height of 45 m and is the highest observation point in town. Dinner. Overnight in Khiva.

Day 3:

Breakfast. Coach trip to Bukhara through the desert along the Caravan road, (480 km, 6-7 hrs). Arrival in Bukhara. Accommodation in hotel. Free time. Dinner. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 4:

Breakfast. City tour: Citadel Ark(4th c. BC), Samanids Mausoleum (9-10th c.), Chashma Ayub(14th c.), Bolo-Hauz Mosque (beginning of the 20th c.), Coumpol bazaar, Medreseh Nodir-Divan-Beghi, Lyabi-Khauz complex (14-17th c.), Minaret Kalon (12th c.), Kalyan Mosque (12th c.), Medreseh Miri Arab (16th c.). Dinner in a traditional Uzbek house. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 5:

Breakfast. A trip out of the city for a visit to the Bahouddin Nakshbandi mausoleum (16-19th c.), to the sepulchers of his mother and his preceptor (14th c.), mausoleum Chor-Bakr (10th c.), visit to the summer residence of Sitorai-Mokhi-Hossa (19th c.). Dinner. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 6:

Breakfast. Visit to an ethnographic museum and ancient mosque. Transfer to Bukhara. Dinner. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 7:

Breakfast. Coach trip to Shakhrisabz (290 km, 5 hrs). Accommodation in hotel. City tour: ruins of Ak-Saray Palace (14-15th c.), Dor-ut Saodat complex (Khazratiy Imam Mosque (14th c.), Jahongir mausoleum (14th c.)), Dor-ut Tillavat complex: Gumbazi-Seiidan, Kok Gumbaz Mosque (15th c.), visit to the factory of art items "Khudjun". Dinner. Overnight in Shakhrisabz.

Day 8:

Breakfast. Coach trip to Termez (300 km, 5 hrs). Accommodation in hotel. City tour: Archeological museum, Fayaztepa (the site of an ancient settlement of the 2-3rdcc.), Mausoleum of Hakim At Termezi (9-15th cc.) (4 km), Buddhist Stupa Zurmala (7 km), Mausoleum Sultan Saodat (10-15th cc.) (7,5 km), Honako Kokaldor Ota (16th c.) (4 km), Nunnery Kirk Kiz (9-10th c.) (4 km). Dinner. Overnight in Termez.

Day 9:

Breakfast. Surkhandarya region tour: Jarkurgan's Minaret (12th c.) (60 km from Termez), Bridge of Iskandar (16th c.) (45 km from Jarkurgan), Dalverzintepa archeological dig (1st c.), the capital of the Kushan Empire. Transfer to Denau city (30 km). City tour: Madrasah Sayid Atalik (16th c.), local Arboretum. Transfer to Samarkand (380 km, 5-6 hrs). Accommodation in hotel. Dinner. Overnight in Samarkand.

Day 10:

Breakfast. City tour: Excavations and museum of the ancient city of Afrosiab, Architectural complex Shakhi-Zindeh (11-15th c.), Mausoleum Guri Emir - Tamerlane's Tomb (14-15th c.), Bibi-Khonum Mosque, market place. Dinner in a traditional Uzbek house with folklore concert. Overnight in Samarkand.

Day 11:

Breakfast. City tour program: Registan square - Medreseh Ulughbek (15th c.), Medreseh Shir-Dor (17th c.), Medreseh Tilla-Kori (17th c.), Ulughbek Observatory (15thc.). Coach trip to Tashkent (315 km, 4 hrs). Accommodation in hotel. Dinner. Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 12:

Breakfast. City tour around Tashkent: Independence Square, Navoi Theater square, Barak-Khan Madrasah (16th c.), The Kaffal-Shashi mausoleum (15th c.), Kukeldash Madrasah (16th c.), the Djuma mosque (9th c.), the Museum of Applied Arts, and Historical Museum. Visit to the Opera and Ballet Theater of A. Navoi. Dinner. Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 13:

Transfer to Tashkent airport for flight to next destination.
